I was Born in 1982 in Morges, Switzerland. I live in Lausanne, nice human-scale city on the banks of the beautiful Lake Léman, in the French speaking part of Switzerland called la Romandie.
I have lived for a full high school year in Illinois, USA, with a great host family, and attended the local Community High School.
I have worked for around 15 years in the cinema industry in various different positions, starting at 18 as a barmaid. I got trained and licenced as a projectionist and worked part time for a few years in different movie theatres around Lausanne: Ciné Qua Non, Cinétoile, Cinéma City Club, Le Zinéma, and Le Cinématographe (Cinémathèque suisse).
I have been working as an exploitation and technical manager at Cinéma City Club in Pully, in charge of the projectionist team, training new employees, coordinating events, and maintaining technical installations.
I was passionate about this job and I enjoyed working occasionally for movie festivals like Visions du Réel in Nyon, La Nuit du Court Métrage in Lausanne, and also being active in associations like Le Zinéma and Association BelEcran. During these years, I have been writing articles on my self hosted Wordpress blog that was called Derrière le Hublot. I would write about the professional and technical aspects of being a projectionist.
In 2009 I started working for la Cinémathèque suisse, which is the Swiss Film Archive. I was very curious about the archives and also lucky they needed help there at the time, so I left the projection booth for a job doing film inventory and checking prints on screening tables. I learned about cataloguing, documentation and data entry in a database.
I was given more responsibilities as time passed, and my job evolved towards film access. In the receiving end of inquiries, I would help find archival film resources for international clients (movie theatres, film festivals, film archives, televisions, movie producers, film directors, museums, and so on...) and deliver these resources in the correct format, working hand in hand with the logistics department.
I was also part of several large in-house software projects and started working with developers. I would be testing features, writing specifications and training users on the different platforms. My knowledge of digital film assets was very helpful in a context where cinema was evolving from analogic to digital. I decided then to join Syware sàrl in the swiss software industry as an administative assistant, which allowed me to learn a lot about the tech world and developing tools and methodologies.
From January until March 2023, while working as an administrative assistant for Syware sàrl, I attended a 9-week fullstack development bootcamp at Le Wagon in Lausanne. I have learned the essentials of web development on a speedy pace: algorithms in ruby, HTML, CSS, Javascript, the use of libraries, NPM & Yarn, the use of pre-processors like SASS and LESS, SQL, querying a database, Object Oriented Programming in Ruby, the MVC (Model View Controller) pattern, creating a CRUD application with the Ruby on Rails framework.
I am very happy to have been able to learn and practice code, and even if this is not my professional occupation, being able to understand most of my employer's core business has been very rewarding. I have become a better assistant in the field since I have acquired these skills and enjoy working on personal side projects on my free time.
This website has entirely been coded "by hand" with simple html, javascript and css (no framework, no external libraries), as an exercise of simplicity. I use it as a personal sandbox to test stuff and to regroup what I do with coding.
For example, you can check my online resume here, and experiment the different display options (toggle language from French to English, change the color of the sidebar, move the sidebar to the other side, display the picture or not). This has been coded in typescript with a front-end library called Vue.js 3 that I really enjoy coding with.
I welcome you to go check out my LinkedIn profile.
